"Just a quick note to let you know how interesting I found your recent presentation about targeting the decision makers, and the concept of the 'gatekeeper', who in my case is often the receptionist. Your ideas and strategies for getting the gatekeeper on-side were a real revelation to me.

As a photographer trying to expand my client base of architects, my previous sales strategy was a somewhat scatter-gun approach, by either email or cold calling.
